lose belly fat
Micah asked:

I power walk on my treadmill for an hour. My weight loss attention is on my abs. So do you think I will lose belly fat by walking or maybe lose waist inches?

Speed walk on real terrain, not on a tread mill. It worked for me a long time ago. Had a good diet then too though.

I’ve been dieting and doing some moderately paced walking every day and I have been losing inches off of my waist. I’ve lost 3 inches to be precise so I guess so!

I’m sure it would help you lose some belly fat, but the best way to lose the extra weight around your mid section is to to sit ups and crunches.

While walking keep you abs tight and they will firm up
if you want to loose belly fat then you need to do situps

Walking, with ankle weights, hasn’t been enough for me, so I started 3 different styles of crunches, I’ve noticed a little improvement.

Your body chooses where you loose fat. Everyone is different. As long as you are exercising and eating correctly, you will eventually loose it.

Check out this article from yahoo today. It should help answer this question.

Yep because it’s cardo….anything cardo will make you loose weight. When you power walk just remember to keep your back straight and you tummy muscles tight. You’ll loose the weight…also try to remember to keep your tummy muscles even during the day. Within a couple months you’ll see the difference.

Just keep up the good work!!! Good Luck! (I am sooo very glad to see someone on this site loosing weight the healthy way)

Sure, if you do it regularly. And cut out the junk food.

Pratik 02.19.09 at 2:48 am

Do crunches and drink TONS of water.

Yes. Walking and especially power walking is the best exercise you can get. Power walking uses your hips and stomach muscles. To be sure follow up with some stomach exercises. I do only 20 a night it takes less than 5 minutes, but I do notice when i have not done them. keep stepping.

u’ll lose weight everywhere

Cardio exercise will burn fat all over. You will loose weight/fat in the places you gain them last. So if you are like me, I gain weight in my belly first, than my arms, than my waist. Now when I excercise, I would loose the weight in my waist first, than my arms, than my curset belly. If you find that you hit a plateau try changing your routine. Like using a jump rope.

I would recommend a combination of walking/running/jogging with sit ups and maybe joining some sort of sport or areobics class.

I lost about 50lbs running a mile just about every other day along with pushups and situps daily. And i also played Flag football on the weekends.

yes walking will help to loose fat around the stomach area. Its is very important that you remember to breath properly in through nose and out (some say through nose others say through mouth).
Another important point is tomake sure you are holding your back straight and your abdomin in tight. Actually if you do this at all time it will help you to strengthen your stomach muscles.
Don’t give up!!! The stomach area for both men and women is one of the last places that fat is burned. For instance women will first loose fat around the chest, arms, and upper body, then in the butt, thighs, and stomach.

So to help even out you make want to work in a weight lifting program for your upper body, No rush though you’ll know when its time for you to kick it up another knotch.

the key is not to give up because if you notice that your face looks slimmer or other people notice your looking ‘different” but they can’t put they’re finger on it, that means your headed in the right direction.

Also be sure your taking vitamins and drinking lots of water and watch what you’re eating.

good luck!

Awesome job of working and wanting to better yourself to the next level!

Cardio exercises burn weight all over the body. Since power walking is a cardio exercise, yes, it will burn belly fat and help you to loose inches. You might also burn fat else where as well. Even though you’re exercising you might still want to do some toning. If you walk AND do crunches, etc. it might speed up the process of toning and loosing inches. Good Luck?

Please don’t listen to anyone who says you can lose weight in your stomach by working your abs. Fat won’t come off in one area, it sheds from all over. Cardio burns fat, (power walking is cardio) doing crunches will only tones your abs. But, the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn from the cardio. That means you should be doing cardio and weights. Keep up the good work!!

power walking can help with losing weight and draining the carbs and stuff from your system but it is best to do things like sit-ups that focus on that area as power walking can just put stress on your knee’s,but a well balanced diet and a normal walk will help you stay fit and lose a bit of weight but you need to focus on the area of concern and using your legs isn’t where you are focusing on,it’s your stomach.so I suggest working on that area and it will be a lot quiker, but also make sure you are doing something that reduces the build up of fat but nothing that stress your body

of course you can ,and stay away from sweet ,sticky food.
